Tinpot Dictatorship This article and video describe how Trump is using the presidency to further his business interests, while the GOP roll over and play dead. Membership fees for one of his clubs has doubled to $200,000 since he became president, and there are rumors that he is offering political privileges as perks to those who join. Moreover, he is spending time on presidential trips to promote his properties. There are steps which could be taken to prevent and curb this illegal, shady behavior, but the Republican party seem to just not care. A watchdog group has sued the president, invoking the Emoluments Clause; whether they are successful remains to be seen. The strongest point to be made under the Emoluments Clause is that the Trump businesses have an unfair advantage over business competitors, as there is an expectation that doing business with Trump will confer advantage. Action: Contact your Senators and Member of Congress to declare that the President is in contravention of the Emoluments Clause and ask them what they plan to do about it. If you don’t get a person, be sure to leave a phone number and ask to be called back. Contact info: www.senate.gov www.house.gov

Thirty-three-second antidote to the Tax Reform Bill (sorry to say those words on a Sunday): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_Jzb0yWdcU Further info: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2204915/Meet-ultimate-sheepdog-Springer-Spaniel-Jess-rounds-lambs-feeds-bottle-herself.html Tax “Reform” The Tax Reform bill or “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act” as it is quaintly called, may have a few good points in it. However, the bottom line is that there is going to be a huge loss of tax revenue, with scant likelihood of much benefit accruing to the lower or middle income brackets. The jobs it is supposed to magically create are probably pie in the sky. What is certain is that the loss of revenue will create future cuts in programs and entitlements. Action: Contact your senators and representatives to say that you oppose the tax reform bill because taxation revenue is a vital and necessary part of any modern democracy. If the bottom line is that tax revenue is less because of this bill, then it’s a mistake. www.senate.gov www.house.gov Closing the Bumpstock Loophole Act Action: Contact your Member of Congress and ask them to co-sponsor the bipartisan Closing the Bumpstock Loophole Act introduced by Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-08), Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05), Congresswoman Dina Titus (NV-01) and Congressman Dave Trott (MI-11). Or if one of these is your own representative, please thank them. The NRA opposes this bill, so it must be good. www.house.gov Health Care Health care open enrollment began yesterday and ends December 15.
