This article and video describe how Trump is using the presidency to further his business interests, while the GOP roll over and play dead. Membership fees for one of his clubs has doubled to $200,000 since he became president, and there are rumors that he is offering political privileges as perks to those who join. Moreover, he is spending time on presidential trips to promote his properties. There are steps which could be taken to prevent and curb this illegal, shady behavior, but the Republican party seem to just not care. A watchdog group has sued the president, invoking the Emoluments Clause; whether they are successful remains to be seen. The strongest point to be made under the Emoluments Clause is that the Trump businesses have an unfair advantage over business competitors, as there is an expectation that doing business with Trump will confer advantage.

Action:

Contact your Senators and Member of Congress to declare that the President is in contravention of the Emoluments Clause and ask them what they plan to do about it. If you don’t get a person, be sure to leave a phone number and ask to be called back.
