Puerto Rico The economy of Puerto Rico has been hamstrung by a history of predatory lending to the Commonwealth, and the residents are seeing their tax money go to pay off these sharks. Another outdated and ridiculous burden the islanders have to bear is the Jones Act, which only allows cargo to be brought in on U.S. ships. This means that goods cost way more than they should. Trump has temporarily suspended the Jones Act in order to allow foreign shipments of aid to reach the island as quickly as possible. However, it is past time for the Jones Act to be rescinded completely. Action: Contact your Member of Congress to ask:
Dream Act - Thanks Action: Nearly all of the 200 co-sponsors of H.R. 3440, the Dream Act of 2017, are Democrats. The few Republican co-sponsors deserve special thanks for their willingness to work across the aisle and support this important legislation. Thank one or more of them: Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL-27) David Valadao (R-CA-21) Mike Coffman (R-CO-6) Joe Barton (R-TX-6)
