Tax “Reform” is Evil If there was ever any doubt that the current GOP just don’t give a *@#% about anyone, the tax “reform” bill will put that doubt to rest. This CNBC article describes the plan’s flaws. One craven example of the hypocrisy of the GOP House is their abolition of the Adoption Tax Credit. There is plenty of horror to go around, however - for example, the plan proposes to get rid of the tax deduction for medical expenses, and the historic preservation tax credit is to be eliminated, jeopardizing historic sites around the country. It’s just all a ghastly mess, and the average American would see only pocket change out of the whole deal, if that, money which they’ll just have to turn around and spend on all the things the bill has cheated them out of. The bill is misnamed “The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act” as the GOP foolishly still believe in trickle-down economics, whereby the selfish greedy capitalists, who are already pocketing all their profits, will suddenly become altruistic and want to share the loot with their drones and Bring Jobs Back etc. No chance. Moreover, there is no shortage of jobs in the U.S. presently, but there are shortages of lots of other things, such as affordable health care and education - shortages which are going to get worse if this bill passes. Action: Call your Senators and Member of Congress to express your disapproval of the tax reform bills currently before the House and Senate.
