Antibiotic Resistance The indiscriminate use of antibiotics in farm animals is contributing to the world-wide crisis of antibiotic resistance, which causes an increasingly large number of human deaths every year. There was a bill introduced in the Senate in the 115th Congress, S. 629 Preventing Antibiotic Resistance Act of 2017, which sought to enforce stricter controls over the use of antibiotics in agricultural livestock. Action: Contact your Senators and ask them what has become of this legislation in the 116th Congress. If your Senator was one of the original cosponsors, thank them and ask them to follow up.
