DACA Deferred Action Childhood Arrivals (DACA) is a program for young people who arrived in this country before their 16th birthday; it allows them to work towards legal status and be safe from deportation. In the present hostile climate, DACA recipients are at risk for deportation if their reapplication is pending. In the case of Daniela Vargas of Jackson, MS, she was detained for deportation during the period after she had re-applied for DACA status and had received pending approval. She has been released but remains at risk for deportation. Daniel Medina Ramirez of Seattle remains in custody. Here’s more info.
