Oppose Michael Brennan Donald Trump has nominated attorney Michael Brennan to fill a long-vacant seat on the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago. Brennan has denied racial bias in the U.S. justice system, and a senator from his home state of Wisconsin, Tammy Baldwin (D) has refused to return a “blue slip” for his nomination. In the past, a refusal from a home-state senator to return a blue slip meant an automatic disqualification for a nominee, but Chuck Grassley (R-IA) of the Senate Judiciary Committee, who always honored this process during Obama’s term of office, is refusing to do so for the second time in Trump’s presidency. Action: 1. Contact your Senators and ask them to oppose the nomination of Michael Brennan to the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. 2. Contact Senator Chuck Grassley and ask him to continue to honor the blue slip system as he and his predecessors have always done in the past.
