Repeal of Dodd Frank

On June 8, the House passed H.R. 10 - the Financial Choice Act of 2017. Members of Congress voted along party lines to repeal the Dodd-Frank financial regulations which were put into place after the crash of 2008 to prevent another financial crisis.  The bill guts consumer protections and allows banks to make the same kind of rash and greedy investments which lead to the crisis in the first place.

Action:

  • If your Congressperson is Republican (except Walter Jones), write to them strongly criticizing their support of H.R. 10.

  • If your Congressperson is a Democrat, contact Walter Jones (D-NC-3), the only Republican who voted against the bill. He did so because it removes protections against predatory practices in the small-loan business. Contact him to thank him for his vote.

  • This bill will now go to the Senate. Contact your Senators asking them to maintain the Dodd-Frank safeguards for our economy and vote NO on the Financial Choice Act of 2017.
