Protection for La Lomita
The spending bill which Trump (reluctantly) signed into law on Tuesday includes provisions to protect five sites from potential incursion by a border wall. One of these sites is the Diocese of Brownsville’s La Lomita Chapel, which was the subject of an unsuccessful lawsuit by the Diocese to defend the historic property. Thankfully, Congress stepped in to protect La Lomita and the other sites, including the National Butterfly Center.
Contact your Member of Congress. If they voted for the spending bill, thank them - and especially thank them for the provisions protecting these sites of historic, religious, and natural importance. If the voted against the bill, tell them how grateful you are to their colleagues for voting for the bill, and tell them to do better next time.
