plan of action - february 20, 2017

This week is Congressional recess, and all our beloved Senators and Congressfolk are supposed to be back in their home districts communicating with and listening to their constituents - that would be US.

Some of these individuals are AWOL - they’re afraid of holding town hall meetings as they have heard Scary Stuff About Paid Crazy Left Wing Anarchists Throwing Things. I actually spoke to my own congressman. He’s actually scared.

First Action

Go to your representatives’ home pages at www.senate.gov and www.house.gov to find out if they’re holding town hall meetings. When I go to my congressman’s page, I find that he is hosting a telephone town hall, as he feels this is safer. If there’s nothing on his/her page, call and ask about home events planned for recess.

Second Action

If your rep is one of the good guys and is actually holding a town hall, please publicize the details on social media and encourage your friends to go. (Can’t ask you to attend as that’s more than ten minutes; however, if you really want to go …)

Third Action

If your rep is one of the fraidy cats, please:  a) write/email your local newspaper to complain; and b) check out this webpage. You can enter your zip code to see if there is an alternate town hall meeting in your area - some groups are organizing with-or-without-you town halls and inviting the press. Again, if you find out about one of these events, publicize on social media and attend yourself if you wish.
