Protecting Elections Mitch McConnell (aka Moscow Mitch) is stonewalling attempts to introduce legislation which would protect future elections against Russian interference. Now that the Mueller Report is readily available (Amazon, $7.20), it is easy for all to read about the shocking extent to which Russia coopted our electoral process and influenced the outcome of the 2016 election. McConnell has blocked every attempt to introduce meaningful legislation and seems to have no interest in finding a way to safeguard our electoral integrity. He has refused to bring any such legislation to the floor of the Senate. Action: 1. Contact your Senators and ask them to co-sponsor and support S. 2053 SAFE (Safeguarding America’s Federal Elections) Act, as well as S. 1247 Duty to Report Act, which would require candidates, campaign officials and their family members to notify the FBI and the Federal Election Commission within 24 hours if they receive or are offered foreign contributions. 2. Fax Mitch McConnell and ask him to bring an election safety bill to the floor of the Senate for a vote, preferably S. 2053 and S. 1247.
