Oppose Changes to SNAP Broad-based category eligibility (BBCE) is a rule which allows SNAP benefits to continue for individuals and families whose assets increase by a small amount; this stabilizes a family’s food supply throughout temporarily changing circumstances, as well as lowering administrative costs and reducing turnover. The Trump administration has proposed eliminating BBCE, which would lead to over 3 million people losing SNAP benefits. The economy would also suffer, as it is estimated that every SNAP dollar spent generates $1.22 to $1.89 of economic activity. Action: Contact your senators and your Member of Congress and ask them to oppose the Trump administration's proposed elimination of the SNAP program's broad-based categorical eligibility rule, as this rule change would increase hunger and harm the economy.
