Domestic Violence/Child Abuse

It’s a little-known fact that when perpetrators of domestic violence seek full custody and/or unsupervised visitation with their children, they succeed in the great majority of cases. Sadly, judges are not trained in domestic violence and do not usually make the safety, health, and welfare of children their first priority. The recent death of Kayden Mancuso is a sad example. The judge allowed her father - a man with a history of criminal violence - unsupervised contact with Kayden, and she was murdered. Congress and several States have introduced the Safe Child Act which mandates that legal professionals, including judges, receive proper training in domestic violence, and that the health and welfare of children be given priority over parental access.

Action:

1. Read this informative article which describes the current situation in the courts and what the Safe Child Act would do to remedy the situation.

2. Sign the Change.org petition demanding the removal of Judge Trauger, who sent Kayden to her death.

3.  Contact your state rep and ask them to prioritize passage of the Safe Child Act in your state.

5. Contact your MoC and ask them to make it a priority to pass H.Con.Res 72, a federal version of the Safe Child Act.
