Syria

So many questions about Syria, Russia, Tillerson etc. Did Assad and Putin play Trump? Did Trump collude with any of it? Do Tillerson’s business interests in Russia preclude his having honest and ethical dealings with Putin? Did Obama’s inaction and Trump’s indifference cause Putin to get cocky? But putting these questions aside, there still remains the thorny issue of U.S. military involvement and the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Syria.

Action:

Call, email, or fax your Member of Congress:

• Ask for a commitment that they will not stand for a continuation of hostilities without a debate and without Congress’s permission. (First read the statement about Syria on their home page to get an idea of where they stand.)
  
• Ask them to co-sponsor HR 1473, the Prohibit Expansion of U.S. Combat Troops into Syria Act, which prohibits the Department of Defense from funding any attempt by the administration to expand U.S. military involvement in Syria.
  
• Say that you want to see the number of refugees accepted into the U.S.A. increased and the process for acceptance of refugees expedited.
