Trump Unhinged Trump has been treating us lately to a display of petulance, bullying, idiocy, and blatant mendacity to a degree which is extreme even for him (e.g. his recent press conference with the President of Finland). His presence in the White House can no longer be tolerated. Action: Even if you have already contacted your Member of Congress about impeachment, do so again. Recently, USDA Under Secretary Greg Ibach made comments before the House Agriculture Subcommittee suggesting that products of gene editing methods be allowed in organic production. Action: The USDA/National Organic Standards Board will be meeting to discuss this and is accepting comments until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time, October 3. Action: Contact your Member of Congress and ask them to support impeachment on the grounds that the president is guilty of gross malfeasance in the use of his presidential office to influence the Ukraine to take actions which would benefit his presidential campaign. Assault Weapons Ban Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) has introduced S. 66, and Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI) has introduced H.R. 1296. Both bills are titled Assault Weapons Ban of 2019 and would ban future sales of high-capacity magazines and military-style assault weapons, including the AR-15 used in many recent gun massacres. Recent polls show that at least two-thirds of Americans favor a ban on assault weapons. As public opinion shifts strongly in favor of gun control, now is the time to act. Action: 1. Contact your Senators and ask them to support S. 66 Assault Weapons Ban of 2019. If they are already one of the cosponsors, send them a message of thanks. 3.
